Incident affecting Maps JavaScript API

Satellite raster tiles not displayed for styled Maps JavaScript API maps

Incident began at 2025-01-23 23:35 and ended at 2025-01-24 01:48 (all times are US/Pacific).

The issue with Maps JavaScript API has been resolved for all affected users as of Friday, 2025-01-24 00:45 US/Pacific, following a rollback of one of the Cloud Styling frontend services.

Based on customer reports and internal metrics, we currently believe that the incident started after 2025-01-22 11:00 US/Pacific, when a new release version started rolling out into production.

We thank you for your patience while we worked on resolving the issue.

Diagnosis: Maps JavaScript API customers who use Cloud Styling with raster rendering displaying a satellite map may receive basemap tiles instead of expected satellite tiles.

Workaround: None at this time.
