Incident affecting Places API (New)

Dear Google Maps Platform customers, We have detected an issue affecting Places API (New) Text Search method causing an increased error rate starting 04:20:00 PT.

Incident began at 2025-02-19 06:10 and ended at 2025-02-19 17:38 (all times are US/Pacific).

The issue with Places API (New) has been resolved for all affected projects as of Wednesday, 2025-02-19 17:00 US/Pacific.

Summary: Dear Google Maps Platform customers,

We have detected an issue affecting Places API (New) Text Search method causing an increased error rate starting 04:20:00 PT.

Description: While we believe the issue with Places API (New) has returned to normal operation, we do not have an ETA for full resolution at this point as we continue to monitor the situation and pursue root cause fixes.

We will provide an update by Wednesday, 2025-02-19 15:00 US/Pacific with current details, earlier if the situation deteriorates unexpectedly.

Diagnosis: Increase 500 errors for Places API (New) Text Search requests.

Workaround: None at this time.

Description: We have identified the root cause and rolled out a fix that took effect at 06:40:00 PT. The error rates went down confirming the fix.
