Incident affecting Google Cloud Functions

Some deployments to Google Cloud Functions using go113 runtime are failing

Incident began at 2020-10-23 06:22 and ended at 2020-10-23 08:00 (all times are US/Pacific).

The issue with deployments of Google Cloud Functions using go113 runtime has been resolved for all affected users as of Friday, 2020-10-23 07:51 US/Pacific.

Description: Mitigation work is currently underway by our engineering team.

We do not have an ETA for mitigation at this point.

Diagnosis: Customers affected by this issue may see an error similar to the following:

ERROR: (gcloud.functions.deploy) OperationError: code=3, message=Build failed: # github.com/cloudevents/sdk-go/v2/extensions

src/github.com/cloudevents/sdk-go/v2/extensions/distributed_tracing_extension.go:161:3: cannot use span (type trace.Span) as type *trace.Span in return argument:

*trace.Span is pointer to interface, not interface; Error ID: 1093f764

Workaround: Customers can avoid this issue by making sure to include a "go.mod" file in their project. For more information see this blog post:
