Description:

Mandiant experienced a service outage for a duration of 1 hour and 14 minutes, beginning at 14:24 US/Pacific on Monday, 28 October 2024, during which the users of mandiant.com were inadvertently redirected to mandiant.exceedlms.com.

From our analysis, the root cause of the issues is an inappropriate redirect rule, which was implemented as part of an ongoing procedure to assess the effectiveness of an upcoming transition.

Google engineers were alerted to the incident from our internal monitoring alerts at 14:29 US/Pacific on Monday, 28 October 2024 and immediately started an investigation. Once the nature and scope of the incident was identified, Google engineers rolled back the change to remove the incorrect redirect.

Customer Impact:

All users were not able to access mandiant.com and were redirected to mandiant.exceedlms.com for a total duration of 14 minutes. Once the change was rolled back, users continued to still see impact for a duration of up to 1 hour, due to caching.

The issue with Mandiant Security Validation, Mandiant Attack Surface Mangement, Mandiant Hunt for Chronicle, Mandiant Managed Defense, Mandiant Threat Intelligence has been resolved for all affected users as of Monday, 2024-10-28 14:38 US/Pacific.
