Incident affecting Cloud Spanner

A subset of Cloud Spanner users experienced errors while using control plane APIs in us-central1 region.

Incident began at 2023-07-12 13:07 and ended at 2023-07-12 13:48 (all times are US/Pacific).

We experienced an issue with Cloud Spanner beginning on Wednesday, 2023-07-12 13:07 US/Pacific for a period of 41 minutes.

Self-diagnosis:

  • Customers with existing sessions may not have observed any errors, However, upon reconnection, customers may have experienced errors stating “deadline exceeded” when creating new sessions.
  • Errors stating ”deadline exceeded” when using the Control Plane API.
  • Errors or missing entries while viewing their instances and databases in Cloud Console.

The issue has been resolved for all affected projects as of Wednesday, 2023-07-12 13:48 US/Pacific
