Incident affecting Google Cloud Bigtable

We are investigating an issue with Cloud Bigtable where a small number of customers may fail to create a cluster.

Incident began at 2023-08-23 12:37 and ended at 2023-08-23 21:24 (all times are US/Pacific).

We believe that the issue with Google Cloud Bigtable has been mitigated for most customers. Our engineering team is working to fix any remaining issues.

Description: We believe the issue with Google Cloud Bigtable is partially resolved. Engineers are continuing to make progress towards full mitigation.

Google Cloud Bigtable customers may experience CreateCluster failures with resource exhausted errors in us-central1-a, us-east1-b, us-west4-a, us-west4-b and likely a few more zones.

We do not have an ETA for full mitigation at this point.

We will provide more information by Wednesday, 2023-08-23 21:30 US/Pacific.

Diagnosis: CreateCluster fails with resources exhausted.

Workaround: Customers can retry in different zones.

Description: Mitigation work is currently underway by our engineering team.

Google Cloud Bigtable customers may experience CreateCluster failures with resource exhausted errors in us-central1-a, us-east1-b, us-west4-a, us-west4-b and likely a few more zones. A smaller number of these zones are also at a risk of Autoscaler not scaling up sufficiently.

We do not have an ETA for mitigation at this point.

We will provide more information by Wednesday, 2023-08-23 16:00 US/Pacific.

Description: We are experiencing an issue with Google Cloud Bigtable, where CreateCluster fails with resource exhausted errors in us-central1-a, us-east1-b, us-west4-a, us-west4-b and likely a few more zones. These zones are also at a risk of Autoscaler not scaling up sufficiently.

Our engineering team continues to investigate the issue.

We will provide an update by Wednesday, 2023-08-23 14:00 US/Pacific with current details.
