Incident affecting Google Cloud Networking, Identity and Access Management, VPC Service Controls, Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)

Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) customers located in us-central1 may observe an issue with VPC Service Controls for newly created VMs or networks.

Incident began at 2024-09-04 06:29 and ended at 2024-09-04 11:39 (all times are US/Pacific).

4 Sep 2024	11:39 PDT	The issue with Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), VPC Service Controls has been resolved for all affected projects as of Wednesday, 2024-09-04 11:06 US/Pacific. Engineering team will continue to perform an RCA to avoid recurrence. We thank you for your patience while we worked on resolving the issue.
4 Sep 2024	09:55 PDT	Summary: Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) customers located in us-central1 may observe an issue with VPC Service Controls for newly created VMs or networks. Description: Mitigation work is currently underway by our engineering team. We do not have an ETA for mitigation at this point. We will provide more information by Wednesday, 2024-09-04 12:00 US/Pacific. Diagnosis: VPC network data for newly created VMs or networks might not be available when requests to Google APIs originate from these VMs/networks. This can cause VPC Service Control restrictions to deny requests for clients that should otherwise be allowed. This may also affect newly created VMs or networks that are non-RFC1918 private networks from using Private Google Access. Workaround: None at this time.
